Each year our group provides a donation to a special project or cause that helps to improve maternity care for women throughout the world.
2009 PROJECT
As a group of women dedicated to the journey of successful outcomes in birth and women's health, we decided to share our vision and took up a donation this past Christmas celebration to donate to an organization called Birth India.
Birth India, strives to educate and network to make natural birth accessible to all women. They are a not for profit group promoting the health benefits of natural child birth and the best practices to achieve a normal birth.
We are twin groups on different continents in this world reaching for the same goals! What better a group to help! Birth India used our donations to build their lending library with informative educational materials (books & CD's) that the midwives, doulas and doctors with this group ,will encourage their clients to use.
Some of the materials purchased with our donation:
Immaculate Deception II: Myth, Magic and Birth, Suzanne Arms
The Birth Partner, Third Edition: A Complete Guide to Childbirth for Dads, Doulas, and All, Penny Simkin
The New Approach to Giving Birth Naturally, Revised Edition, Janet Balaskas
From Outrage to Courage: Women Taking Action for Health and Justice, Anne Firth Murray, Paul Farmer
Impact of Birthing Practices on Breastfeeding, Second Edition, Linda J. Smith
Obstetric Myths Versus Research Realities: A Guide to the Medical Literature, Henci Goer
We look forward to continuing our support of this and other groups who are passionate about normalizing women's birth experiences.
